My name is Tammy Blalock and I am a San Antonio wedding photographer who is a native of Atascosa County (Ata-Girl). With exception to the four years I served in the Army, have lived most of my life in Jourdanton. I was born in Mercy Hospital in 1969 and graduated from Jourdanton High School in 1987.
I toyed with photography until 2004, when my own two daughters began playing sports. I started to take a lot of pictures and, in 2010, take a real interest in photography. Within a three-year period, I took well over 50,000 images of sporting events. I continue to learn something every time I pick up my camera. I have now taken so many pictures that I have lost count. This has enabled me to learn a lot and develop my own photography style. I love to document and share these captured moments and milestones with you.
It always intrigued me to see an athlete suspended within a millisecond of competition. Motionless flexed muscles, facial expressions, flying jerseys, and airborne turf and dirt are fascinating to me. This love of athletics has allowed me to approach many different areas of photography with confidence. I once thought of myself as a sports photographer, but have come to the realization that I am actually a lifestyle photographer with an editorial flare who loves to photograph San Antonio weddings. I capture life honestly.
I like to capture important events in families’ lives—events that are milestones and need to be documented. Watching a bride approach her groom and walk down the aisle is incalculable. I love witnessing and preserving the dance a father has with his daughter when he gives her hand in marriage. There are few things more grand than memorializing the fun and love shared with the wedding guests at a reception. It makes me hopeful to photograph a young couple celebrating their future.
My aim is to capture these moments for you—to preserve them in history, not only in your mind, but in a tangible, cherished photograph. I want to concentrate my efforts on the things that make people and families feel confident, special, united and loved.
I’ve lost loved ones very close to me and I wish OFTEN that I could travel back in time just to take more pictures. I firmly believe that the unique set of circumstances I have faced in life has prepared me to take a personal and genuine interest in my photography clients. Pictures are magic!
When I’m not behind my camera, you can find me hiking, biking, camping, listening to music (Elvis and Prince), hunting for arrowheads, or reading. I also spend a lot of time watching my baby girl play high school sports!
Don’t forget to be positive, be happy, be healthy, AND DON’T FORGET TO BE PHOTOGRAPHED!
